Dr. Zelko Leon, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist who has been a practicing physician for over 40 years. Dr. Leon completed medical school and neuropsychiatry training in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1988 and finished psychiatry residency program at the University of North Dakota in 1992. Since then he has worked in the VA Health Care System in Fargo, North Dakota in diverse leadership roles in mental health department. He was affiliated with the School of Medicine as a clinical professor of psychiatry. In addition, Dr. Leon practiced in Rhode Island at Butler Hospital, was owner of private practice the Center for Mood and Anxiety Disorders and was affiliated with Brown University. Also, he worked as a staff psychiatrist at Meritcare and Sanford Healthcare Systems in Fargo, North Dakota. His scholarly activities included presentations on diverse mental health topics and peer reviewed publications. He has been a consultant and speaker for multiple pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Leon has a vast knowledge in consulting with health care professionals due to his experience in mentorship and supervision of trainees, team work, leadership roles, primary care mental health integration program, private practice, consultation-liaison psychiatry service, and others.
